Night at the Movies 2020

We are delighted that you were able to join us for our 13th Night at the Movies, our annual flagship event, this year @Home.

This was a unique opportunity to hear from Atara Frish, Adi Mishnayot and Ziv Hermelin, 3 award-winning students and graduates from the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television who wrote and directed some extraordinary short films. We also thank the wonderful writer and producer Dan Patterson for moderating the event with such great skill and presenting such insightful questions.

We learned from Atara that her film “The Love Letter” was influenced by her personal experience as a woman in the army and how excited she is that this film was recently bought by HBO Europe to be transformed into a tv show, currently being filmed.

Ziv’s “No Bad Endings” uses humour to create a moving film, trying to connect the younger generation to the annual Holocaust Memorial Day remembrance as well as his personal experience of life on a kibbutz.

And Adi, whose documentary “Image of Victory” about her wounded brother’s injury in Operation Protective Edge and subsequent recovery.  Her film gave a fascinating reflection on a solider’s hospital experience and the impact it had on his family—with the director leaving us to draw our own conclusions about how Israel deals with its wounded.

We also learned from one of the Tisch School’s leading faculty members, Michal Aviad, that the Tisch School is one of the top 15 film schools in the world, with over 800 students who produce some 120 films annually.  For information on the school, click here

Please look out for an invitation coming soon to join our 27 October 2020 webinar on the Israeli spy thriller, Tehran, featuring inspiring TAU Alumni of the Tisch School, script writers and creators Omri Shenhar and Moshe Zonder.

Thank you again for participating in our Night at the Movies @Home.  We hope to see you again (on Zoom) soon!
