Jazz in July 2019

On Tuesday 9th July, 2019, TAU Trust, in collaboration with AKIM Israel and Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, held the first sold out “Jazz in July” event featuring young accomplished jazz musician, Robert Ukrainsky with special guest, the renowned UK saxophonist, Alex Woods.

Vocalist Grace Woods along with pianist Andy Bunting, Bass player Tom Bunting and drums player Jonathan Silk joined saxophonist’s Robert and Alex for an array of easy listening and well-known jazz tunes. Guests had the unique opportunity to hear the overwhelming talent from these musicians, whilst enjoying specially created cocktails and sumptuous canapés.

The evening was created in order to raise money and awareness about “TAU-AKIM”, which is a collaboration between TAU’s Goldschleger School of Dental Medicine and AKIM Israel, which supports those with intellectual difficulties and disabilities. Individuals can participate in a vocational programme at the University, which in return offers them the necessary skills and confidence to enter the world of Dentistry. It provides stability, a community and a chance to harness a career. Dr Mervyn Druian, TAU Governor and Anthony Broza, Chair of AKIM UK spoke about the importance of this transformational programme.

It was Rada Sumareva-Ukrainsky, TAU Governor & Vice-President of AKIM USA, who not only sponsored the evening, but approached TAU Trust with this idea and concept. Her very talented and gifted son Robert Ukrainsky, an Ambassador to AKIM Israel brought together a truly thrilling evening in the beautiful surroundings of The Victorian Bath House in London.

This will be the start of what we hope to be an annual event at TAU Trust, so do watch out for details regarding next year’s event.

All proceeds from the evening will go towards the TAU-AKIM vocational programme. For more information about the programme please click here.
